After a parliament Q&A with Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on March 22, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh revealed that he received himself a Tata Nexon EV.The Rajya Sabha MP said today that India should eliminate the production of all types of petrol and diesel vehicles by 2035 or 2040, and that if there is no specific roadmap for phasing out petrol and diesel vehicles, he said it would be no point to market because it is a natural choice for the consumer to go for a cost-effective and economically viable option, which the electric cars offer, according to him.LNG, he said, is the fuel used for transport vehicles, which would cost around Rs 8 lakh, but could be recovered in 290 days.
