The Indian Constitution was passed into force in 1949 . The Constituent Assembly took almost three years to finish drafting the constitution .

Every year, India celebrates Constitution Day, or National Law Day, as it commemorates the passage of the Indian Constitution by the Constituent Assembly in 1949.In 2015, the Government of India declared November 26 as Constitution Day to promote constitutional values among citizens.The day was commemorated on the 125th anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar's appointment as the chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee.The Constituent Assembly assigned the task of drafting the Constitution to a committee headed by Dr. BR Ambedkar.

Dr Ambedkar completed the Indian Constitutional Draft and presented it to the Constituent Assembly in 1948.This proposal was made available to the public on November 26, 1949 with only a few changes.The Indian Constitution was signed into force on January 26, 1950, the day after the British Revolution.The Constituent Assembly took almost three years to finish the crucial and most historic task of drafting a Constitution for India.

The Constitution of India's Preamble declares the nation a free, democratic, secular, and democratic nation, and promises to achieve justice, dignity, and equality for all people while encouraging unity to maintain the country's unity and integrity.
