Allahabad: The Allahabad High Court has ruled that a convicted individual does not only have the right to pursue his studies and appear in examinations from the jail to enter the mainstream of social life, according to Justice Niraj Tiwari, who told the Aligarh Muslim University to notify the HC on the next day about the modalities in which the petitioner would finish his BA LLB course to save his academic career without affecting the University Administration's discipline.The university rusticated petitioner on September 4, 2019, according to the court order.Further, the petitioner has also prepared an affidavit for maintaining discipline and good conduct.Also, it is undisputed that a convict in the Indian Legal System has the right to pursue his studies and appear in medical examinations from the jail to step into the mainstream of social life.Punishment to any one should have been both correct and not prejudicial.

Certainly, the petitioner is a young student, and he should have been given the opportunity to improve himself and pursue the right path of life, as the court observed.Respondent-University is requested to notify the Court on the next date arranged regarding the manner in which petitioner will complete his BA LLB course to save his academic career without jeopardizing the University's discipline, though it is true that petitioner is not a guilty individual and has the right to complete his studies.The court has scheduled August 17 for further orders.
