New Delhi (India) : Sharjeel Imam has petitioned the Supreme Court to erase some statements made by the Delhi High Court against him when denying bail to Umar Khalid, the High Court said that Khalid was constantly in contact with Sharjeel Imam, who is arguably the author of the conspiracy, in a paragraph of the 52-page decision.Imam said in his appeal before the Supreme Court that he has been called the main conspirator and that he was in constant contact with other co-accused, including Sharjeel Imam, who seems to be at the center of the plot.It also stated that the above-mentioned order was in complete disregard of the statute enacted by the apex court and a slew of other decisions reiterating the same rules of law.None of the impugned observations and remarques are unsubstantiated by the record. They are, rather, ex-facie contradictory and go even further than the charges contained in the chargesheet.Imam brought the appeal on October 18, seeking an ad-interim ex-parte stay of the order.
