Kochi (Kolkata): The Syro Malabar Church in Kalyan has produced an animated film about Devasahayam Pillai's life, which will be canonized in Rome on Sunday.The animated biopic is called St. Devasahayam, an icon of persecuted Christians, is now available on YouTube and is a dramatized account of his life.Devasahayam is said to have been martyred in Travancore in the 18th century.The film's creators, Kalyan Media Cell, said the initiative aims to help people comprehend and be inspired by Devasahayam's faith.

Devasahayam is India's first married-laity saint.In the Churches history, it is rare to find such a saint.Fr Franklin Joseph, the project manager, said the documentary, which is 30 minutes long, depicts his life in a simple yet effective way.On Friday, Emeritus Archbishop Francis Kallarakal opened the documentary at the Palarivattom Pastoral Orientation Center.
