Droupadi Murmu's career: from tribal leader to seasoned politician to current candidate for president

Droupadi Murmu is the first female tribal leader to run for office in the countrys top constitutional post . She will be the first presidential candidate from Odisha of a major political party or alliance .

New Delhi (India): Droupadi Murmu, the first female tribal leader to run for office in the country's top constitutional post, is a seasoned politician from Odisha with a long career in academia.Her experience in politics, as well as her wide expertise in the field of studies indicate that she will help the tribal areas of the region.If elected, she will be India's first tribal president and the country's second female president.She will be the first presidential candidate from Odisha of a major political party or alliance.

Droupadi Murmu was Jharkhand Governor from 2015 to 2021, born in a poor tribal community in Mayurbhanj, a backward district in Odisha, and continued her education despite challenging circumstances.She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Ramadevi Womens College Bhubaneswar on June 20, 1958, and then held office as vice-chairman of Rairangpur NAC.Between 2000 and 2004, Droupadi Murmu served as a member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly in Rairangpur.She held ministerial positions in Transport and Industry, Animal Husbandry, and Fisheries.

From 2002 to 2009, she was a member of the national executive of BJP ST Morcha, and the YSR Congress led by Jagan Mohan Reddy, including Odisha Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik, has also stated its support for Murmu's bid as a presidential candidate.This is an achievement, said Munda.Nakataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who is also in the national capital and will be part of the presidential nomination process, said the NDA has taken the right decision because it will send a positive note to tribal areas of society.She comes from a modest background, is well educated, and has excellent leadership skills.
