KANPUR (Kanpur): On Thursday, an association of Muslim professionals in Kanpur announced a campaign to dispel misconceptions about the Agnipath scheme, inviting in clerics and imams of mosques to encourage youth to pursue the country's service by joining the armed forces during Friday prayers.Just as we do other such initiatives, we agree with the central government's Agnipath scheme.Through a special appeal, clerics and imams of mosques will send our message to eligible Muslim youths, according to Shahid Kamran, patron of the Association of Muslim Professionals.According to another member, the group was using social media to help Muslim youth searching for jobs in the Army.

This came as Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized the Agnipath model on Thursday, saying that the BJP had broken the dream of lakhs of youth to serve the country and said that their tears would destroy PM Modis' power hegemony, according to PTI.
