New Delhi (India), December 12: The Supreme Court referred to the petition seeking the attention of the Centre's general secretary, Jaya Thakur, on Monday, arguing that it is endangering the country's democratic process.In another petition filed by activist Dr Jaya Thakur in the Supreme Court of India, the petitioner has alleged that the government has extended the third tenure of the Director of Enforcement Directorate, SK Mishra.Democracy is a component of our Constitution's basic structure, according to the petitioner, and democracy requires free and fair elections.The protesters also destabilized the foundations of democracy by utilizing the enforcement agencies against the political opponent.

The nature of the duties carried out by the Director of Enforcement would involve the supervision of very serious investigations.The tenure of the Director of Enforcement cannot be extended monthly under the pretext of a pendency of investigations into incidents with cross-border implications, read the petition.
