ED interrogates Rujira for more than six hours in a coal mining case, and TMC complains

Kolkata (India) — Rujira Banerjee, the wife of Trinamool Congress national secretary Abhishek Banerjee, was quizzed by the CBI on Thursday for six-and-a-half hours on the illegal coal mining lawsuit.According to sources close to her family, she had to take the child with her because she could not leave him alone at their Harish Mukherjee Road home.The Trinamool Congress reacted swiftly.The CBI and the ED are behaving like BJP agents and bullying political opponents.

The ED interrogated Rujira under sections 44 and 45 of the Money Laundering Act, 2002, for the first time on Thursday, tracing financial transactions of Rs 168 crore by Anup Majee, the prime suspect in the case, to a few accounts in New Delhi and abroad.According to ED reports, an ED team came down to Kolkata from Delhi and asked her about her bank transactions and financial details.According to ED reports, the investigating team questioned her about some bank transactions and some WhatsApp messages by the accused.According to a source, Rujira was asked about 20 questions, most relating to bank transactions.

Between July 2018 and November 2019, the ED officials who are monitoring the money trail have learned that Rs 1,352 crore was generated from illicit coal mining.
