Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leads in 77 wards, while BJP is ahead in 58 . Election Commission has deployed 68 Election Observers .
New Delhi, India, December 7: According to the Election Commission, 56 AAP candidates were declared winners in the Delhi civic body polls until 11.30 am, followed by 46 BJP candidates.AAP is leading in 77 wards at this time, while the BJP is ahead in 58.On Wednesday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) crossed the halfway mark in the counting of votes in 250 wards of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections, hinting that the exit polls that predicted the party's lead were correct, but that will only come to an end on December 7 when the election will be declared. However, the low voter turnout may not be indicative of pro-incumbency given the exit polls that predict the AAP's victory in the MCD polls.Congress, which is primarily focused on the success of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, was not predicted (in the exit polls) to be a strong challenger in the newly conducted polling.
The Commission has also established 42 counting centers around the city. The Commission has already deployed 68 Election Observers, under whose supervision the counting of votes will be carried out by the Returning Officers in the presence of candidates or their representatives. Also, the Commission has established special media rooms at these counting centers to enable access to the Commission's web portal from the LED screens. The BJP, which has governed Delhi's civic body since 2007, has aimed to stretch its winning streak.Between 2012-2022, there were 272 wards in Delhi and three companies-NDMC, SDMC, and EDMC-which reunified into an MCD, which officially began operations on May 22.
