Employees of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation strike over unpaid wages

Hundreds of sanitation workers from Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) held a demonstration . Around 700 workers have been fired and they havent even been compensated .

HYDERABAD (Hyderabad) — On Thursday, hundreds of sanitation workers from Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) held a demonstration to demand paying employees.At least 300 people gathered outside the GHMC commissioners' office with placards criticizing CM K Chandrasekhar Rao.Officials intervened quickly and gave the protestors a promise to pay their dues, which the protestors dispersed.The president of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Employees Union (GHMEU), U Gopal, told reporters that the civic body's biometric machines were running out of time, resulting in a salary cut for many workers.

Around 700 workers have been fired and they haven't even been compensated.On several occasions, we have attempted to contact the GHMC commissioner and zonal officers, but nothing was done, according to Gopal.When CM promised to even make outsourced workers permanent, he said it was unfair to eliminate hundreds of existing workers.
