Ex-MLA goes missing in Odisha; family suspects kidnapping

BHUBANESWAR: Saroj Padhi, a former Congress MLA, vanished from his home here on May 12 and has not been traced so far, police said on Saturday.Sangeet Padhi's son lodged an FIR with the Capital Police Station here, claiming that the former legislator of Aska assembly constituency in Odishas Ganjam district may have been kidnapped.After receiving a call about 7 a.m. on May 12, the ex-MLA left his house and has not returned since then, according to him.DCP Prateek Singh of Bhubaneswar announced that a massive manhunt has been launched to track down Padhi and that all police stations in Odisha have been notified.

Singh said Padhi, who was elected on a Congress ticket in 2004, left his wallet, cell phone, and other essential items behind him before leaving the house.
