Ex-Mumbai Police Officer Sanjay Pandey Is Released on Bail for Stock Exchange Snooping

New Delhi: Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Pandey was released from jail on Thursday in connection with a money laundering lawsuit involving suspected illegal phone tapping and spying on National Stock Exchange (NSE) employees, according to Justice Jasmeet Singh.The Money Laundering investigation is being pursued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for the alleged commission of crimes under the Indian Penal Code, Indian Telegraph Act, and the Prevention of Corruption Act.According to the CBI, iSec in concert with other accused persons illegally monitored MTNL lines at the NSE between 2009 and 2017 and recorded calls by various NSE officials.Mr Pandey was arrested by the ED on July 19 and taken to jail for further investigation.

According to the investigation team, since the applicant was the chief of Mumbai Police until June 30, 2022, the suspicion that he may influenced the witnesses or interfere with the evidence was not unfounded.Chitra Ramkrishna, the former MD and CEO of the National Stock Exchange, was arrested in the phone tapping incident on July 14.Ramkrishna was also in jail for a CBI case involving the NSE's co-location saga.In this case, she was released on September 28.
