Mangaluru: A father of three children has been charged with murder after allegedly pushing his children into a well, resulting in them drowning.On Thursday, he was accused of pushing his wife into the well and then jumping into the well himself near his house in Mulki police station boundaries.The deceased are Rashmitha,13, Uday,11, and Deekshith,4.Hithesh Shettigar, 42, of Padmanur, Mulki, was arrested, but his wife Lakshmi and the accused survived.According to the DCP, the preliminary investigation revealed that the incident took place after the children returned from school.Since there was no one at home, the attacker took his children into a well and pushed them into it.His wife came back around 5.30 p.m., and after failing to find the children, she started looking for them.When she asked her husband where the children were, he showed her the well. She screamed, and the accused allegedly lifted her, threw her into the hole and climbed into it, then jumped into it.The husband and wife were rescued by the neighbor who rushed to the hospital.The children were rushed to the hospital and were later pulled out of the well and rescued.According to reports, financial hardship may have prompted the inmate to take the required step. He hoped to start selling tender coconut, but the idea fell apart.His wife was a domestic help.Following a postmortem, the children's bodies will be handed to the family.The accused's daughter is in a state of shock.
