Fedbank gold robbery in Chennai: 3.5 kg gold found at officers' residence

CHENNAI: In connection with a Rs 15 crore gold heist at a Fedbank branch in Chennai, an inspector of police was arrested.Inspector Amalraj's house in Acharapakkam in Chengalpet district was found with 3.5 kilograms of stolen gold.Amalraj, who works at the Acharapakkam police station, has been charged with committing a gold heist at the Fedbank branch in Arumbakkam, according to suspects Santhosh and Balaji.Fedbank is a Federal Bank subsidiary.

Santhosh and Balaji were sentenced to five days in prison by the 5th metropolitan magistrate court in Egmore on Wednesday.The attackers had already recovered 28 kilograms of gold, according to police.Santhosh revealed that he had hidden the remaining portion of the stolen gold at Amalrajs home during interrogation.Officers rushed to Amalraj's house and retrieved 3.5 kilograms of gold.
