Flipkart Was Penalized Rs. 15,000 For Selling an Insufficient Pressure Cooker

Delhi High Court orders Flipkart to pay a Rs 1 lakh fine within a week . The penalty was imposed by the Central Consumer Protection Authority .

According to a release, the Delhi High Court has ordered Flipkart to pay a Rs 1 lakh fine within a week in the courts registry for allowing the selling of sub-standard pressure cookers on its website.Last month, the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) imposed a penalty of Rs 1,00,000 on the company.The CCPA informed that the Delhi High Court had ordered Flipkart Internet Pvt Ltd, which owns and operates the popular e-commerce site www.flipkart.com, to alert consumers of all 598 pressure cookers sold on its website of the order that the pressure cookers do not conform to the BIS code.The Court also ordered Amazon Seller Services Pvt Ltd, which operates the e-commerce site www.amazon.in, to notify consumers of the 2,265 pressure cookers sold on its website of the order passed by CCPA in relation to non-conformity of BIS requirements in the pressure cookers, it said on September 20.
