Guwahati (Assam), May 15: The first flood in Assam has hit six districts, including a woman who died in landslide incidents in the Haflong area of Dima Hasao district on Saturday.Following torrential rains in Assam and the adjacent states (Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh) for the past two days, the water level of many rivers are steadily rising, and the water in the Kopili river is now flowing above the danger level.The first spell of floods was recorded by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), which affected 24,681 residents in 94 districts, including Cachar, Dhemaji, Hojai, Karbi Anglong West, Nagaon, and Kamrup (Metro).In the flood-stricken districts, the flood waters have also submerged 1732.72 hectares of cropland.

On Saturday, the Army, para-military forces, the SDRF, Fire and Emergency Services rescued 2,150 people from flood-hit areas of Cachar district.Several roads, bridges, and irrigation canals were damaged in Hojai, Lakhimpur, and Nagaon districts.
