Florian Wirtz's injured young star contract is extended by Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen have extended contract of Germany international Florian Wirtz until 2027 . Wirtz has been out of action since March after tearing cruciate knee ligaments in a Bundesliga match .

BERLIN (British Federation of Athletics) — Despite the attacking midfielder being sidelined by a serious knee injury, Bayer Leverkusen has extended his contract extension to Florian Wirtz until 2027, according to the publication on Thursday.Wirtz, who just turned 19 years old last month, has been out of action since March when he tore the cruciate knee ligaments in a Bundesliga match.Leverkusen has however extended his deal an additional year.Florian is a unique player.

He is incredibly important to our club, and in the same way we give him the best opportunities for a great career, says sports director Simon Rolfes.Wirtz, who made his Germany debut last September, is undergoing intensive rehabilitation in the hopes of competing in the World Cup, which starts in November.
