Patna: Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman will visit the state next month to address the state's reservations about bank loans faced by investors who have submitted proposals for the establishment of ethanol production units in Bihar. On the other hand, Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan has agreed to consider the request of the Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) in Patna for the 2022 academic sessions for postgraduate and undergraduate courses. When Sitharaman and Pradhan met with Tarksihore Prasad, the states' vice-finance minister, made separate courtesy calls on them in Delhi on Saturday, both said they were willing to consider the two problems in their talks.Prasad said that the investors who want to invest in the ethanol production plants with a capacity of 30 to 50 kilolitres per day were having difficulty getting bank loans for their units.Prasad told Sitharaman that it was a critical problem that needed to be addressed as the country's ethanol production hub emerged, and that she had also requested that the quota for ethanol production be increased to 65 kilolitres per day.

Prasad said that special measures should be taken to further improve this sector in the state. He told Pradhan that the Patna campus of BIT, which was established in 2006, has set the academic year and start of the admission process for the postgraduate courses beginning in May 2022, and for undergraduates starting June 22.
