Former MD Grover is summoned by the Delhi High Court following a BharatPe petition.

BharatPe has sought more than Rs 88.67 crore in damages from former managing director Ashneer Grover . The fintech firm has accused Grover of creating fictitious suppliers from Panipat and hiring while overcharging the corporation .

New Delhi, December 8: The fintech firm has sought more than Rs 88.67 crore in damages from the former managing director, his wife, Madhuri Jain, and other family members, as a result of rift between Ashneer Grover and BharatPe.On a petition brought by BharatPe against its former managing director, the Grover family allegedly created fictitious suppliers from Panipat and did massive hiring while overcharging the corporation, according to Justice Navin Chala.Grover, his wife, his brother-in-law, and his father-in-law were among the defendants.This issue has been designated for further hearing in January 2023 by senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, who referred to Grover's tweets after resigning.

According to Rohtagi, the perpetrators create fictitious Panipat vendors who were paid Rs 50-60 crore and nothing was purchased.The suppliers don't exist, he said, adding that there's also a lot of hiring.Grover did not object to his resignation and expulsion of his wife and her brother from the company, according to the court.The company has also requested that the couple and three others pay Rs 88.67 crore, plus the interest in recovering the funds alleged misused and harm to the company's reputation.
