PUNE: Four Shiv Sena men were released from jail on August 2nd, including former PMC corporator Vishal Dhanawade, Pune district president Gajanan alias Vinayak Tharkude, and two party workers arrested in connection with the assault on former minister and rebel Sena MLA Uday Samants' sports utility vehicle at Katraj Chowk on the night of August 2.After six Bharati Vidyapeeth police arrested six party members on August 3, Sena men pressed the court for seeking anticipatory bail out of fear of arrest. The judge explained in its ruling that the applicants' immediate custody, Dhanawade, Tharkude, Aniket Ghule, and Rupesh Pawar, was not essential. For determining their exact role, police papers and research should be examined.

In the event of their detention, the candidates should be released on a dilution of personal bond and surety bond of Rs 30,000 each of the same amount, according to the court. When the investigation officer called the Sena men, they were asked to appear and interview them and arrive at the police station between 11 am and 2 pm on Friday and Saturday. They were cautioned not to abandon the court's discretion. The court has sent instructions to police to respond to bail pleas by August 12.

The attorneys argued that charges relating to attempted murder, assaulting a public servant, and voluntary causing injury were wrongly used in the case.
