Four UP rowers have been picked to compete in the World Rowing Cup-I in Serbia, which begins on May 27.

Lucknow, May 27-29, four players from Uttar Pradesh have been selected for the World Rowing Cup-I in Belgrade, Serbia.We are elated that four Uttar Pradesh players have been selected for the World Rowing Cup for the first time, according to Sudhir Sharma, secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Rowing Association.All four players, Arvind Singh, Ajay Tyagi, Punit Kumar, and Ashish Phugat, are based in the Army.They are currently camping in Pune in order to qualify for the forthcoming World Rowing Cup.Ravesh Kumar and Mohammad Azad, two coaches, will also accompany the quartet to Belgrade.

He was also honoured by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow later that day.He will compete in the Lightweight Mens Double Sculls division at Belgrade.Arvind has already made UP proud by winning many awards both at national and international levels.Ajay, a native of Ghaziabad, has won a gold medal in the light weight double at the National Championship 2022.

Punit has won a number of gold medals both at national and international levels, including the Asian Championships.Ashish, a resident of Meerut, will compete in the Quadruple event in the World Rowing Cup-I, coming from Budhana tehsil of Muzaffarnagar.In 2021, Ashish won silver medal in the Asian Championship LightWeight Double.
