Election Commission forecasts show BJP and Congress have claimed victory in the state . The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured a majority in 12 assembly races .

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) India — According to the latest forecasts of the Election Commission of India, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur is still leading in his constituency Seraj by 38,183 votes.In the state, which has a tradition of electing governments for the past several years, the BJP and Congress have claimed victory.Outgoing Himachal Pradesh CM Jairam Thakur said in a conversation with the media that if BJP wins, it will defeat the anti-incumbency coalition and change the state's alternative government model.Although the counting of votes in Himachal Pradesh is still ongoing, the ECI data from 03.09 pm show that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured a majority in 12 assembly races while still leading in 14 others.

However, three assembly seats in Himachal Pradesh have been secured by Independent candidates here, beginning at 8 a.m. on Thursday.The state's 68 assembly seats were declared on November 12 with the government supporting its 10 promises to take them home.The Aam Aadmi Party has been credited with intensifying the political contest in the state.The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Communist Party of India (Marxist), Communist Party of India (CPI), and the Rashtriya Devbhumi Party (RDP) have also played a part in the electoral battle.
