From today, 3 Indian airports will use facial recognition for entry.

India is set to introduce Digi Yatra, a technology used by India to provide a smooth and hassle-free air travel experience today.Digi Yatra is a technique developed by Facial Recognition Technology (FRT) to make it possible for passengers to pass through multiple checkpoints at the airports using paperless and contactless techniques to establish their identity, which could be linked to a boarding pass in the first phase.It will be offered at seven airports, including Delhi, Bengaluru, and Varanasi, and four more, by March 2023.The technology will be exported to other countries.

There is no central repository for Personally Identifiable Information (PII).The passenger's ID and travel credentials are stored in a safe wallet on the passengers' smartphone.
