From Tuesday, 23 farmer unions in Chandigarh will begin an indefinite pakka morcha for wheat bonus, following the Delhi protests against three agri-marketing rules, according to the Sanyukt Kisan Morchas.They will gather at Gurdwara Amb Sahib in Mohali and head towards Chandigarh to begin the indefinite protest.These unions are demanding a Rs 500 per quintal of wheat to cover the loss of yield due to shriveled grains.They want the zone system to be scrapped, permission to transplant paddy from June 10, a reduction in the load fee from Rs 4,700 to Rs 1,200 per horsepower, and underloading of the overloaded feeder system.Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has arranged a series of paddy transplantation plants to be dispersed between June 18 and June 26, meeting power minister Harbhajan Singh on May 10, and gave him a week deadline to comply with their demands to avoid an indefinite protest starting May 17.
