German climate programme chooses Vizag

The International Climate Initiative (IKI) has been selected by the Government of Visakhapatnam . The initiative aims to introduce a science-based participatory planning system .

Visakhapatnam: The International Climate Initiative (IKI) has been selected by the Government of Visakhapatnam.The German government, the United Nations University, and the National Institute of Urban Affairs will collaborate on IKI, a key component of the German government's international climate finance strategy.The initiative, which will be titled transformative climate action (T-CAP), will take place in Vizag city.GVMC commissioner G Lakshmisha said that the initiative will bring all stakeholders together and gather information needed for a cohesive strategy development.

The initiative aims to introduce a science-based participatory planning system.According to the GVMC commissioner, the main goal of this initiative would be to improve climate change management, environmental security, water conservation, participatory development, good governance, and sustainable development objectives.The United Nations Development Program (UNDP)-Government of India (GoI) initiative of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation, along with the Energy and Resources Institute, will play a crucial role in this T-CAP initiative.
