Girl, 19, killed by Uttarakhand resort owner and son of a former BJP minister for refusing prostitution; friend receives distressing text

DEHRADUN: A 19-year-old girl from Pauri Garhwal, who went missing four days earlier from a Rishikesh resort in Uttarakhand where she used to work as a receptionist, was allegedly pushed from a cliff into the river Ganga by the owner and his two workers because she refused to indulge in prostitution with the hotel guests, according to the spokesman.Days before she disappeared, Ankita Bhandari, a distraught mother, sent a chilling note to her close friend on WhatsApp, claiming: They are enforcing me to provide extra services to hotel guests, because they are feeling envious... the owner once tried to kiss me vigorously.She had also shared her agony with a few employees.According to police, the adolescent had joined the beach for a Rs 10,000 per month on August 28 this year and the principal suspect, Pulkit Arya, 35, who is also the son of a senior BJP leader and former state minister Vinod Arya, reportedly begged her to establish sexual relations with his guests to earn extra due to her constant refusals.

Her father, Virendra Bhandari, a Khanda Srikot mother, said that when her daughter went missing on the night of September 18, he was alerted the next day, running from pillar to post to get a case registered with revenue police, which was only achieved after the intervention of state assembly speaker Ritu Khanduri.Saurabh Bhaskar, 35, and Ankit Gupta, 19, the resort manager, have been arrested, and IPC sections 302 (murder), 120-b (criminal conspiracy), and 201 (causing evidence destruction) were later added against them.All three of them come from Jwalapur, in the Haridwar district.
