GST wing seizes 5.68 billion from a Boudh businessman's residence

Bhubaneswar (Bhubaneswar): During the raid on Shree Vinayak Textiles on Friday, the state CT (commercial tax) and GST (goods and services tax) enforcement wings confiscated Rs 5.68 crore in cash from a textile dealer in Boudh district, the highest ever haul in Odisha.The textile merchant, Bajranglal Agarwal, had stowed the money in his cupboard in his bedroom.We had received a warning about the abundance of cash in his house.Our team conducted a search in his showroom (Shree Vinayak Textiles) and his house.

The cash was counted for at least 20 hours by the GST officials, who deposited the funds in Agarwals account and provisionally attached it.We are asking him where he got so much money.The official said that his computers, notebooks, and papers were confiscated.Despite a substantial turnover in his business, the businessman owed no tax to the government, according to CT and GST authorities, who raided Singhal N Singhal, a different textile showroom in Boudh, and discovered tax evasion.

The CT and GST enforcement wing took Rs 1.01 crore cash from a jewellery store in Salipur, in Cuttack district.Officials refunded Rs 61 lakh from Tarini Bastralaya, a prominent textile store in Bhubaneswar, just a few days ago.
