AHMEDABAD: Officials said Prime Minister Narendra Modi would inaugurate the National Conference of Environment Ministers at Ekta Nagar in Narmada district of Gujarat on Friday morning.According to a statement released by the Prime Ministers Office (PMO), he would open the event at 10.30am.According to the PMO, the two-day conference on September 23 and 24 is intended to strengthen coordination between central and state governments on a variety of topics, including climate change, recycling, wildlife and forest management, among others, and PM Modi would also address the gathering on the occasion.According to the PMO, the conference is being held to foster greater collaboration among the central and state governments in implementing more effective measures on topics such as the reduction of plastic pollution through a multi-pronged approach, and state action plans to combat climate change with a focus on LiFE- Lifestyle for Environment.

The conference will feature six themed sessions on a variety of topics, including LiFE and combating climate change (update of state action plans on climate change for greenhouse gas reduction and adaptation to climate impacts).The statement said that other topics would be PARIVESH (single window system for integrated green clearances), forest management, environmental control, wildlife management, plastics, and waste management.
