Gujarat: Schoolgirls in Dharampur complain about bad food and harassment

Over 200 girl students of Karchond Kanya Saksharta Nivasi Shala of Dharampur in Valsad joined a demonstration . The students alleged that they were not being served high quality food .

On Wednesday, over 200 girl students of Karchond Kanya Saksharta Nivasi Shala of Dharampur in Valsad joined a demonstration demanding that the schools cook be punished.The students alleged that they were not being served high quality food and that when they complained to the school's senior officials, they encountered resistance and were told to remain silent.The girls also submitted complaints of poor food quality to the school principal.They argue that some of the male staff in the school kitchen started insulting the girl students while making a verbal argument in a meeting.

The girls claimed that all their retorts about poor food went unheard.During this time, the parents of the girl students, as well as tribal leaders from the area, approached the police and demanded an FIR against those responsible for the girls' beatings.Cops have seen recordings of a few parents and their children.However, based on their location, the police have yet to file an FIR.

According to a police officer at the Dharampur police station, there are reports of bullying and a poor quality of food.If an offence can be prosecuted, police officials said they have yet to decide.Cops are also investigating whether there is any political interference in the entire issue.
