Gurugram: Man on scooter electrocuted after hitting pothole on waterlogged road

GURUGRAM: On Thursday night, a 45-year-old man was electrocuted on a waterlogged Pataudi road after falling from his scooter that had hit a pothole he couldnt see and came into contact with a live wire that lay exposed.Waterlogging has occurred in various parts of the city as a result of two days of rain.Swami Chopra (45), a member of the Ramprastha Edge Society in Sector 37D, was working with a private company in Manesar.Chopra was on his scooter around 8.30 p.m. on Thursday, negotiating a stretch of Pataudi road that locals say is brimming with potholes.

When his scooter collided with a pothole, he was near Radha Soami Satsang Bhawan.According to police, he fell near an electricity pole with live wire hanging from it.Passersby escorted him to a private hospital nearby, where he died around midnight.The hospital staff alerted the police.

According to Kumar, the body was handed to the family on Friday after an autopsy, though Kumar said that the police have yet to receive a query from his family.According to him, his autopsy was performed after the confessions of family members were recorded.Chopra had an injury mark caused by electrocution on the left side of his chest, according to Dr Sudhir of the Civil Hospital forensic department, which performed the autopsy.Chopra is survived by his 15-year-old daughter and an elderly mother, according to a resident of Ramprastha Edge Society, who said that he died as a result of the civic agency's neglect and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN).

According to the official, no such incident has come to our attention so far.
