Haircuts to foot massages: Locals participating in warkaris' seva

Pune is a city in India where many mandals (organisations) and locals from the vicinity of the Nivdunga Vithoba and Palkhi Vithoba temples in Nanapeth and Bhavani Peth provided foot massage, shoe repair, haircutting, and shaving, as well as food and snacks to the warkaris (a pilgrim sect) during their stay.On Wednesday, the Sant Tukaram and Sant Dnyaneshwar palkhis arrived in the city and will remain here for two days before returning to the city.Volunteers from Neeta Naiku Smruti Prathisthan set up a booth at Bhavani Peth to sell among the warkaris packaged food such as laddoos and biscuits, with water bottles.Dinesh Naiku, the founder of the prathisthan, said, We have doctors at the kiosk from 10 a.m. for medical checks, and we also have free medicines.

General physician Vinod Patil said that most of the warkaris are experiencing muscle pain in thighs and legs when they are participating in the palkhi for the past two years.According to him, we are giving them generic medications such as paracetamol, cough syrup, and pain killers.On the other hand, students of Dhondumama Sathe Homeopathic Medical College were seen administering the warkaris, monitoring blood pressure and assisting with treatments.On Wednesday afternoon, we opened the kiosk.
