Haryana: A man has been arrested for defrauding a Kurukshetra resident out of Rs 17 lakh.

The accused has been named as Beant Singh alias Preet Aujla of Allowal village in Punjabs Tarn Taran district.

KURUKSHETRA, KURUKSHETRA: Police in Kurukshetra arrested a man on Friday for allegedly duping a local of Rs 17 lakh on the pretext of sending him and his family to Canada and giving him a role in a film.The accused has been named as Beant Singh alias Preet Aujla of Allowal village in Punjab's Tarn Taran district, according to the additional superintendent of police (ASP).Beant is currently living in Mohali.In another case, he was detained in Yamunanagar district jail and arrested on a production warrant.

One Baljeet Singh of Sector 13 lodged a lawsuit against Beant at Thanesar City police station on February 18, 2020.Baljeet told police he met one Sunil Kumar, who convinced him to invest in his firm for better returns and send him overseas.Sunil organized my meeting with Palak Aujla, Beant Singh, and Rani Aujla at their Mohali office.They enraged me by offering a role in a film and driving me and my family to Canada.

My son and relatives arrived at Mohali and asked for their photos to be taken by Punjabi artists.However, Baljeet said in his lawsuit that they neither sent us abroad nor returned our money.Baljeet said as he spoke to them about the role in the film and sending the family to Canada, the accused told him that it would be impossible for them to produce a film at the moment due to the high cost involved in the film's production.According to Baljeet, the accused promised to return the money and returned Rs 11 lakh.
