KOLKATA, August 7: Rain is predicted in the coastal districts of Bengal, including Kolkata, as a result of a low-pressure system.According to the Met Office, the city could see heavy rain on August 10, while South 24 Parganas and East Midnapore are set to see heavy rain on August 9 and 10.This is the first large rain-triggering system to strike south Bengal this season.Kolkata had a rain deficit of 41% in July, the highest level since 2019 since a massive 62% deficit in June and July.

In particular along the coast, it is predicted to produce a wind of greater than 50 km/h.According to director of the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), GK Das, the latter will also be battered by heavy showers.Under the effects of the system, Kolkata may receive light to moderate rain, but the showers could increase on August 10.Starting August 11, Das predicted that the rain will gradually decrease in intensity.
