Himachal's illegal mining: ED sweeps the area and seizes $15.37 million

New Delhi, India, September 24: Officials said the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted searches at the premises of Lakhwinder Singh Stone Crushers, a Mohali-based business, and many others in Una, Mohali, Panchkula, and other places in connection with illegal mining in Una, Himalayan Pradesh, on Friday.ED launched a money-laundering probe in 2021 at Sadar Police Station, Una District of Himachal Pradesh, in the form of an FIR registered at the Himachal Police station.At places in the area, the ED probe revealed that rampant illicit mining was being conducted.Illegal mining included illegal extraction of sand from the river bed as well as stone mining from quarries.

The ED said that parallel sets of documents were being maintained that contained facts about actual mining for a short period of time, according to preliminary analysis of the papers.According to the ED, about Rs 35 crore in illegal mining has been carried out by the individuals concerned.
