MUMBAI: On many occasions, hoteliers have requested that the state aviation department assist in-bound air travelers in easing out the process of submitting the Air Suvidha form and other documents, saying that their guests have missed flights due to delays in filing them up.This form is intended to ask about the Covid vaccination status.Valsa Nair Singh, the principal secretary of the hotel and restaurants association western India (HRAWI), wrote a letter highlighting the serious challenges faced by air travelers flying to India from outside the country.Thousands of star hotels, trendy bars, and restaurants are members of HRAWI.

According to Bhatia, the online travel agencies (OTAs), which the customers rely on for travel planning, barely inform the customers about the same, resulting in the travelers being able to learn about this option at the check-in counter only. The majority of travelers use their smartphones for ticketing, airport check-ins, and boarding pass services at the airports. However, filling the Air Suvidha Form by phone is a cumbersome endeavor, which requires high-speed internet, which cannot be provided by the telecom operators, as a result of the usual mobile internet services available.In-bound travelers have a difficult time importing the photos of their passports and vaccination certificate in a prescribed file size and specific format, according to Bhatia.

According to the letter, visitors were stranded on many occasions because of the inability to complete the formalities. We accept and support the government's efforts to ensure the safety of all travelers flying to the region. We also accept that there are more cost-effective alternatives available to ensure that the flyers fulfill self-declaration requirements. In the interest of all the in-bound travellers to India, we would like to ask you to please allow some alternative choices to complete the Air Suvidha Form, as the letter stated at the end.
