Aizawl (Mizoram) India, December 9: On Thursday, Aizawl FC defeated NEROCA FC 1-0 in the sixth round of the I-League 2022-23 at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Aizawl, Mizoram, to take full points home.In the early stages of the game, the hosts controlled the majority of possession, but did not have a single goal scoring opportunity.R Lalthanmawia came closest in the sixth minute when the winger opened the door to attacking his marker as he went to shoot, but his attempt failed to yield the desired result.Midway through the first half, Aizawl came to life.Lalthanmawia on the left wing dribbled past his marker and carried the ball inside the six-yard zone for R Ramdinthara, who was unable to control the ball properly in the 24th minute.
NEROCA custodian Soram Poirei Anganba saved the midfielders shot, however.At the half-hour mark, Ramdinthara played Sailo on the right wing, who crossed it for Henry Kisekka at the near post.But the Ugandan pushed his header wide.On the other hand, Jourdaine Fletcher took a free kick after a foul on Aimol Reamsochung, two minutes later.With just a minute to go in the first half, Kisekka put the ball into the net, but the referee called for a foul, and Ugandan centre-back Thokchom James Singh was kicked out by the Ugandan.
