India | Panchkula (Haryana) India-On Monday, RoundGlass Punjab defeated Aizawl FC 2-1 in a close fourth-round match of the I-League 2022-23 at the Tau Devi Lal Football Stadium in Panchkula.After a first-half penalty by Luka Majcen was cancelled out by R Lalthanmawias tap-in, a thumping header from Punjab defender Deepak Devrani in the second half proved to be the deciding factor in an action-packed match.As the hosts walked off with full points, Aizawls captain Lalchhawnkima missed a penalty in the final minutes of the game.RoundGlass Punjab began to develop into the game quickly and produce attacks.

Following a fine-through pass from Brandon Vanlalremdika, Luka Majcen was in a scoring position.However, Aizawls captain Lalchhawnkima knocked the Slovenian down in the box before he could shoot a shot.Majcen converted from the spot to put the hosts ahead in the 27th minute.R Ramdinthara was met with a pass from Matias Veron on the right wing when he crossed the ball for R Lalthanmawia, who made a drifting run into the six-yard zone before tipping the ball into the goal.

With their quick runs, Lalthanmawia and Ramdinthara bothered the Punjab fullbacks.Punjab caught Aizawl on the counter two minutes before halftime when Majcen gave him the ball to Vanlalremdika, who gave it to Samuel Lalmuanpuia in the box, but Samuels shot hit the ground.Just after Emmanuel Makinde fouled Lalmuanpuia near the penalty area, he returned.When Lalmuanpuia put in a ball for captain Aleksandar Ignjatovic, he fired a good shot from inside the penalty area, but it went wide of the target, leaving the hosts with a 2-0 advantage in the 60th minute.

After a shot by Aizawls Veron in the 80th minute, Vanlalremdika took the resultant corner kick as Punjab defender Deepak Devrani came running in at the back post to put his header in for the team's second goal of the night.The Argentine took advantage of a poor collection by Punjab goalkeeper Kiran Chemjong.Seven minutes later, Punjabs Naocha Singh fouled Aizawl substitute Lalchhanhima Sailo inside the penalty area, giving the visitors the opportunity to level the score.Lalchhawnkima took a penalty kick but it was met with a crossbar by the RoundGlass bench, who were astonished to discover that the away team had tried their best to reclaim order, but the Punjab defence held firm to pull three points home.With three victories and a draw from four matches, the Warriors have amassed ten points.
