The IAF will be transporting drinking water bottles from Guwahati to Silchar town . More than 45 lakh people are now displaced, of which nearly three lakh are in relief camps .

GUWAHATI, April 15, 2017: GUWAHATI — Even as the state announced seven more flood deaths, pushing the death toll to 107, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Thursday that the IAF will be transporting drinking water bottles from Guwahati to Silchar town, which is reeling under floods.After seeing the situation in Silchar, Sarma said, One lakh bottles of drinking water will be carried by special IAF crafts to Silchar every day.Thousands of residents of Silchar town have been stranded in the floods for the past few days without water and electricity.Assam Power Development Corporation engineers will be sent to Silchar to repair submerged transformers to restore power connection in the Barak Valley's largest urban center, according to Sarma.

More than 45 lakh people are now displaced, of which nearly three lakh are in relief camps, according to Assam State Disaster Management Authority.Floods have battered 30 districts as of Thursday.
