The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati and Assam government officials have joined together to promote the city.In a meeting held today between a delegation of officials from diverse departments, including Mines and Minerals, Agricultural, Commerce, Public Enterprises, and Transportation (which includes inland waterways), led by Dr. K K Dwivedi, IAS, Principal Secretary of Assam, and IIT Guwahati Director TG Sitharam, a road map was prepared to map the future course of action in the area.The establishment of a Mining Department at IIT Guwahati was among the more important topic areas.According to the institute statement, this initiative is supposed to assist in the preparation of young students and the involvement of experienced professionals in the design of ways and means to exploit the abundant natural resources that are present throughout the state of Assam and the northeast.
The meeting also discussed ways and ways to improve tea technology.IIT Guwahati will give thrust to studies on the use of tea compounds in various industries including medicine, dentistry, and the wellness industry as part of this initiative.It was also suggested that the state officials will continue to push forward efforts to emphasize the value of different types of tea and their complex components.IIT Guwahati Director, Professor TG Sitharam, has stated, IIT Guwahati will be very happy to help in areas such as exploration of mines and minerals, commerce and entrepreneurial development, use of drones in various industries, transport industry-Inland water transportation, water buses, safety, and aspects related to skills development in multiple future industries, according to Professor TG Sitharam, who has described the institute's state-of-the-art laboratories The Principal Secretary of Assam's Industries, Commerce and Public Enterprises Department stressed the importance of setting up a school of mines at IIT Guwahati and centres of excellence in the inland waterways, supporting Assamese traditional jewelry making, teamaking, and skill development that lead to inventions and adopting newer technologies for improving road safety. For example, a multifaceted research and development center is being proposed to be integrated within the engineering department in order to support inland water transportation (marine engine design, engineering of vessels, and the associated repair and servicing center).
