CBI court found Lakhan Verma and his associate Rahul Verma guilty of murdering additional sessions judge Uttam Anand . Both were sentenced to seven years in jail and Rs 10,000 fine .

Dhanbad, Jharkhand: A special CBI court in Jharkhand sentenced an autorickshaw driver and another individual to life in prison on Saturday in connection with the murder of a Dhanbad court judge last year.On July 28, CBI court judge Rajnikant Pathak found autorickshaw driver Lakhan Verma and his associate Rahul Verma guilty of murdering 49-year-old additional sessions judge Uttam Anand.The amount of punishment was revealed on Saturday.Both the parties were sentenced to seven years in jail and Rs 10,000 fine under IPC Section 201 (murder), the bench convicted them of causing the disappearance of a crime report and giving false information to shield the suspect.CBI counsel Amit Jindal sought the death penalty for both, describing the murder of a judge as the rarest of the type of crime.

The result will be challenged in a lower court.During the hearing, the judge was jogging on one side of a wide road in Dhanbad when the three-wheeler veered towards him, hit him from behind, and fled the scene.The Jharkhand government then handed over the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
