Dubai, December 6: The West Indies womens squad was fined 40 percent of their match fee for playing a slow over-rate against England in the first ODI of their International Cricket Council (ICC) Womens Championship series in Antigua.The sanctions were levied by Denavon Hayles of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees after the West Indies were found to be two overs behind the target by ICC in a statement released by the organization.Players are fined 20 per cent of their match fee for every time their club fails to bowl in the allotted time as set by Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.Captain Hayley Matthews pled guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed punishment, so there was no need for a formal hearing.West Indies lost by a 142-run margin in the first ODI after returning to bowl first, followed by a five-match T20I series in Antigua and Barbados.
