New Delhi, India, December 8, 2013: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) have recruited 2,46,914 candidates in the last five years, according to Union Minister Jitendra Singh, who spoke to the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.Singh said that the recruitment procedures are prescribed by the user ministries and departments each year.According to Singh, only small deviations may occur, and the number of candidates considered may be slightly less than the number of vacancies advertised due to the non-availability of candidates meeting the prescribed eligibility requirements laid out in the examination's notice.Singh further said that the government has already sent letters to all ministries and departments requesting timely action to fill up the vacant positions.
