The Union Public Service Commission has considered 13,122 candidates for appointment from the recruitment year 2019-20 to 2021-22 . The number of candidates nominated may be marginally lower than the number of vacant positions reported due to the inability of candidates to meet the prescribed eligibility requirements .

New Delhi (India), December 8, 2018: According to the Annual Report of the Department of Expenditure, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has considered 13,122 candidates for appointment from the recruitment year 2019-20 to 2021-22, and eligible officers in the grades of Assistant Section Officer, Section Officer, Deputy Secretary, and Joint Secretary-in-Situ have been promoted against available slots, except where the case is sub-judice, Singh said.Singh said that the UPSC and Staff Selection Commission (SSC) had recruited 2,46,914 candidates in the last five years, and that the number of candidates nominated may be marginally lower than the number of vacant positions reported due to the inability of candidates to meet the prescribed eligibility requirements.Singh further explained that filling up and distributing vacant posts is a continuous process, as per the needs of various departments, departments, and organisations of the Central government, and that the government has already issued instructions to all ministries and departments for prompt responses.
