CHENNAI: On Thursday, the first match of the sixth edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League, between Chepauk Super Gillies and Nellai Royal Kings, took place in the Super Over at Tirunelveli.After both teams finished with 184, Nellai took down Chepauk's target of ten to get their first points of the season in the Super Over.As their side approached the finish line in the fifth ball of the game, Nellai medium-pacer Athisayaraj Davidson gave up 9 runs, and Sanjay Yadav (7 n.o.)and G Ajitesh (1 n.o.)Chepauk put their total of 20 overs in sync earlier today by scoring 184-7 with skipper Kaushik Gandhi (64, 7x4, 2x6) and Sonu Yadav (34, 3x6) who started the innings before the side surpassed Nellais total with an unbeaten 12-ball 26 from S Harish Kumar.The Chepauks chase began in the fourth over with a 35-run opening wicket stand between Kaushik and N Jagadeesan (25) before the latter was Mankaded by off-spinner B Aparajith in the fourth over.In the ninth over, the Chepauks chase stuttered, going from 1 for 35 to 69-3, before Sonu stepped in.Sonu added 50 runs for the fourth wicket in Kaushik's company.
