India, the Olympic bronze medalist, won a hard-fought 3-2 victory over South Africa to advance to the mens hockey final of the Commonwealth Games on Saturday.India scored for Abhishek (20th minute), Mandeep Singh (28th) and Jugraj Singh (58th minute), while South Africa scored from the sticks of Ryan Julius (33rd) and Mustapha Cassiem (59th minute).India was on the attack from the start and had a chance to break the deadlock in the 20th minute when South Africa's reserve goalie, Gurjant Singh, gave them a superb display under the bar.But Jones didnt exactly deliver as predicted, despite his tremendous effort in the second half.South Africa looked more determined after the change of ends and shortened the lead by scoring from a penalty corner in the 41st minute, but Jones was successful.They fought hard in the final quarter, though, as they held on to their lead.
