India is in discussions with German authorities to reunite a newborn with its parents, according to MEA.

New Delhi, India, November 25: The Ministry of External Affairs announced on Friday that it has been cooperating with German authorities on the matter for over a year, since September 2021, according to MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi.A Gujarati couple, who have been separated from their baby girl, is trying to reconnect with their daughter.The baby girl was mistakenly injured by her grandmother in September last year, according to several outlets.After that, German authorities convicted a couple of sexual assault and took the baby away.

The child is currently being cared for by an unknown family, according to Bachchi, who added that they are aware of privacy concerns and the complex nature of the case.The family has also been given appropriate consular assistance from the Embassy of India, Berlin.Bagchi said that it is also working with German authorities to bring the court proceedings to a close.
