New Delhi, December 6 : India has been building a more gender-equal country from the ground up in recent years and continuing to show the world what investing in women can do, Melinda Gates said in a statement released by the United Nations Women in Health and Science in India conference in New Delhi on Tuesday.Gates said in a statement that the government used digital bank accounts to provide money to 300 million people during the pandemic, including 200 million women.Melinda also praised India's gender-intentional policymaking, saying that making sure that cash transfers go straight into womens hands is an excellent example of gender-intentional policymaking.Over the past few years, India has been transforming itself into a more gender-equal country from the bottom up, she said.The philanthropist met with External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar in New Delhi and discussed the G-20, global SDG progress, and digital transformation.
