Indian Army deploys AI-based surveillance system at borders to eliminate manual monitoring

The Indian Army has been using Artificial Intelligence (AI) based surveillance systems on Northern and Western borders . The system is being used to monitor real-time social media monitoring, pattern recognition, and prediction of adversary course of action .

New Delhi, India, August 6, 2017: The Indian Army has been using Artificial Intelligence (AI) based surveillance systems on Northern and Western borders to keep an eye on real-time social media surveillance, pattern recognition, and prediction of adversary course of action, among other things.According to a source, an AI-based suspicious vehicle identification system has been deployed in eight locations throughout the Northern and Southern theatres.Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the capability of facilitating a lot of asymmetry in military operations.Artificial intelligence is being used to support security and monitoring, real-time social media monitoring, pattern recognition, and prediction of adversary course of action, among other tasks by the Indian Army.

The Unit is able to handle heterogeneous inputs from items such as PTZ cameras and handheld thermal imagers, reducing the need for manual monitoring.In eight locations in the Northern and Southern theaters, an AI-based real-time surveillance system has been developed.
