India defeated the United States 4-1 in the Uniphar U23 5 Nations Tournament in Dublin . Annu (49, 52) scored a brace for India, while Nikita Toppo (48) and Vaishnavi Phalke (58) scored just one goal each .

Dublin, Ireland, June 23: The Indian junior womens hockey team defeated the United States in the Uniphar U23 5 Nations Tournament here in Dublin on Thursday, winning 4-1.Annu (49, 52) scored a brace for India, while Nikita Toppo (48) and Vaishnavi Phalke (58) scored just one goal each.Hannah Miller (46) scored the only goal for America.The Indian junior womens hockey team got off to a fast start, winning the first Penalty Corner of the game within the first ten minutes.

As the first quarter came to an end, neither India nor the United States were able to break the deadlock.India took over early in the second quarter and was rewarded for their efforts when they won their second PC.However, the US defense stayed strong and prevented India from converting it.The United States launched a counter-attack in the third quarter, resulting in their first Penalty Corner of the game, but not a goal, forcing both teams to enter the halftime break with no advantage.Similar to the first and second quarters, India and the US fought it out to keep the game pace on track.

However, India did not have to wait long for an equalizer as Nikita Toppo levelled the game in the 48th minute.Annu added another goal a minute later to give India the lead.Since then, India didn't look back as they received three back-to-back PCs.Annu scored her second goal in the 52nd minute, taking the game further away from the United States.

India defeated the United States 4-1 thanks to Vaishnavi Phalke's final goal in the 58th minute.
